iOS 27.2 Beta 4 Pulls the New Health App and Adds Controls

Jeff's Daily Pick. Apple quietly pulled its redesigned Health app from the iOS 27.2 beta. In its place: five new switches to stop Messages from suggesting things.

In the United States, Apple released the fourth developer beta of iOS 27.2 on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with build number 24B5110a, according to AppleInsider. The update is due for everyone later in October, and beta 4 changed three things users will notice: the redesigned Health app disappeared, Messages gained a settings page for its suggestions, and the Home app gained new options for smart locks.

The Health app is pulled

The first three betas carried the overhauled Health app that Apple previewed at its September iPhone event, with new Insights and Longevity tabs and lab booking through Quest Diagnostics. Beta 4 removes it. After the update, a popup says the new features will arrive in a future update, and data recorded during the beta stays viewable in the Settings app, MacRumors reported. Apple told MacRumors the app was being tested in the beta but would not launch with iOS 27.2 and would come later in the year. Apple's own beta 3 release notes had listed a known issue: personalized summaries in the Insights tab might not generate as expected.

Five switches for Messages

Messages Suggestions, which offer one tap actions based on a conversation, were cut from iOS 27.0 and return in 27.2. Beta 4 adds Settings, Apps, Messages, Suggested Actions, with separate toggles for Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show in Maps, and Flights and Packages, 9to5Mac reported on October 16. MacRumors had earlier spotted a sixth option that hides any suggestion left unused for 30 days.

Home learns to lock

For compatible smart locks, the Home app adds a Lock After Closing setting that controls how quickly a door relocks once shut, and a Door Left Open alert that can be set to off or to 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. The same beta turns the Apple Music icon black and white.

The pattern is consistent: Apple is shipping AI features with more off switches and holding back the one app that handles medical data. For anyone who tested the new Health app, the record is not lost, only parked in Settings until the redesign returns.
